This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. Day 53: February 22, 2015
Diary entry:
Spent the morning after breakfast in my hotel exploring the center of Haarlem, a charming city I had never visited before. A nice Grote Markt in the city center, with a gorgeous main church. Unfortunately, I was a little too early to be able to go inside, so something for next time.
After that, home to relax, recover, and prepare for the week ahead. Good movies on TV as the local movie channel was showing many of 2013’s Oscar nominated films in preparation for tonight’s Academy Awards.
The Beer:
Name: Vic Secret IPA
Style: American IPA
Producer: Red Castle Brew
Alcohol content: 8.0%
Bottle size: 0.75l
Purchased from: Red Castle Brew’s stand in the Nuremberg farmer’s market
Today’s beer is one I picked up at the farmers market in Nuremberg around Christmas. Red Castle Brew Australian Vic Secret IPA. No odor to speak of. The initial taste is mildly hoppy. Perhaps a slight bit of sweetness. But then the drying bitterness definitely kicks in.
