This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
From December 1 through December 24, I’m going to try to use a Christmas Beer for each day of Advent as part of my #ottadvent15 2015 Advent Calendar. Follow along with the tag ottadvent15.
Day 346: December 12, 2015
Diary entry:
After a surprisingly early night last night, I enjoyed one of the best night’s sleep I’ve had in a while. That bed at the Hotel Wastfalia was really quite comfortable. And I gotta say, they’re breakfast was pretty good, too!
We hit the road to head back to the Netherlands at 10AM, and since the weather was rather nice, we decided to make a pit stop in Kleve to see if we could visit their Christmas market as well.
Unfortunately, it seems Kleve doesn’t have a Christmas market in town, though there is a castle to visit there. There may have been a market in a garden outside of town, but I didn’t see any signs as we passed where I think that would’ve been, and the weather was turning, so took the opportunity to just head home and relax.
The Beer:
Name: Warsteiner Weihnacht / Winter
Style: Winter Lager
Producer: Warsteiner
Alcohol content: 5.6%
Bottle size: 0.33 l
Purchased from: EDEKA in Kleve, Germany
Warsteiner Weihnacht by Warsteiner. 5.6% ABV winter lager. A little maltier than the normal Warsteiner. Pretty decent. And a change from all the Belgian Christmas beers.
