This post is a continuation of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I drank at least one new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. This year I may deviate from the diary format in some posts, hoping to concentrate more on the locations and the breweries I am enjoying. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 376: January 11, 2016
Diary entry:
Returning to work this week, ready to get things done!
Project two is beginning to really get moving for this year, with the first main meeting of the year today, and an overview of the tasks to complete in the coming weeks. Quite a lot to finalize from what was discussed and agreed in the last month of 2015. Lots of i’s to dot and t’s to cross. And some last details to get agreement on before we can get the official approval to start building.
Had a session to finalize on the side-project document I worked on in my “spare time”, which I suppose is actually my real day-to-day job outside of all of these big projects. That should now be final-finalized next week in our offsite team meeting.
And a lot of back and forth running between the campuses during the afternoon.
Not my favorite part of these busy agendas.
At home, I treated myself to a pre-Beer of the Day beer. Technically, it’s just a special bottling of a “normal” beer; Chimay Speciale 1956 by Bières de Chimay (Abbaye Notre Dame de Scourmont) – Chimay Bleue (Grande Réserve) in the original bottle. Always an excellent beer. Cool to see it with the original labeling.
The Beer:
Name: Wild West
Style: Sour Ale
Producer: Brouwerij Alvinne
Alcohol content: 6.0%
Bottle size: 0.5 l
Purchased from: De Caigny Dranken in Essen, Belgium
Wild West by Brouwerij Alvinne. Part of the Alvinne Oak Collection. Clear Copper color Sour Ale. 6% ABV in a 50cl bottle. Sour, but with a richness from the 8 months in red Bordeaux wine barrels. The Morpheus yeast gives a beautiful sourness.
