This post is a part of the 2015 New Beer Every Day Beer Diary Challenge, #ottbeerdiary. Over the course of 2015, I will be trying a new beer every day. Please read the background in the link above, and enjoy reading about the most recently tasted beers below. If you’d like to join the challenge as well, let me know in the comments below, and be sure to check out Grown-up Travel Guide and his #grownupbeerdiary, where Andy Higgs came up with the diary format in use below. You can catch up on all of our posts as part of the challenge under the tag ottbeerdiary.
Day 204: July 23, 2015
Diary entry:
A full day of workshops, one right after the other. Lots of reviewing powerpoints and discussion of concepts, validating assumptions and finalizing statements. Sounds like a fun day!
I was very happy when the email came in late in the day asking if I wanted to grab a beer later in town…
Spent a little time enjoying the nice summer weather on the patio at De Baron, one of my old stomping grounds when I lived in Eindhoven itself. I need to return here more often, as they still have a decent selection of new beers for me to try.
The Beer:
Name: XXX Bitter
Style: Belgian IPA
Producer: Brouwerij De Ranke
Alcohol content: 6.0%
Bottle size: 0.75l
Purchased from: De Baron in Eindhoven, Netherlands
I’ve enjoyed a number of beers from Brouwerij De Ranke of Wevelgem, Belgium over the years, and the XXX Bitter was another very solid beer.
This beer, which they call a Hoppy Golden Ale, featured a very lovely bitterness. Crisp, and very refreshing on the patio. I shared up a 0.75 bottle with some friends from work, as we discussed out plans for the trip to Germany the coming weekend.
Commercial Description:
Brewed especially for the Shelton Brothers “The Festival” 2013 in Portland, ME.
Limited kegs and 75cl bottles productions. Not to be confused with the regular XX Bitter.
