As Erin’s birthday is coming up this week, we decided to book a long weekend visit to our 70th country, Vilnius, Lithuania!
We fly into Vilnius, Lithuania on Thursday morning, and fly back to Eindhoven on Sunday, so we’ll have three full days and nights to explore the food and drink of the city.
Do you have any favorite restaurants, bars, or shops you would recommend in Vilnius? We’d love to receive some recommendations for places to find local foods, beers, wines, or liquors, both to sample, or to take home with us.
We’d love to find some great restaurants, pubs, and food stalls to try some of the most traditional dishes and drinks, like Cepelinai, rye bread (including Kepta duona), blynai, gira, Trejos devynerios, mead, zrazai, or cheese curd dishes. And of course, great cafes and pubs for coffee and local beer.
Below is a map we’ve pieced together of locations to check out so far. Are we missing any great spots? If so, please let us know in the comments. If a place has a specific dish we just have to try, we’d love to hear that as well.

Wow! Vilnius seems like a great idea, Brett! I’d love to go there soon. What are your highlights from there?
We tried one fine dining establishment, which was good, but we happened to hit during their seasonal menu transition, and they weren’t quite organized for it yet. So that was a bit of a disappointment. In general, we stuck to more traditional places. Some things I didn’t care too much for (like the pig’s ear and some of the denser zeppelins). The local cheeses and smoked meats, and of course the rye bread, were big-time favorites.
I still remember Brett when I visited Vilnius a few years back. It was surely one of the most beautiful city I have ever visited, The architecture and the culture of this great city are just out of the box.!!!
Thanks Brett for making me reminisce those old beautiful memories
